The global picture of water and health has a strong local dimension with some 1.1 billion people still lacking sources and some 2.4 billion to adequate sanitation.
Today we have strong evidence that water, sanitation and hygiene-related diseases account for some 2,213,000 deaths annually and an annual loss of 82,196,000 Disability Adjusted Life Years (DALYs).
It is well known that 80% of the human body is made of water, so our health and well being totally depend on the quality of water that we drink. Without water people cannot live even for three days. Water is the cornerstone of our entire life.
Water Born Diseases
Bacteria in water and other pathogens cause a variety of diseases. Waterborne diseases are caused by microorganisms like bacteria in well water, viruses, protozoa, and helminths (parasitic worms). Diarrhea is a common symptom of waterborne diseases. The World Health Organization has determined that diarrhea occurs worldwide and causes 4% of all deaths worldwide.
In developing countries, diarrhea is a major killer. In 2012, diarrhea was estimated to have killed 3.2 million people, most of whom were under 5 years of age. Each year there are approximately 4 billion cases of diarrhea worldwide.
These water purifiers are intended for rural and urban communities to produce (recover) drinking water from superficial water sources (wells, ponds, rivers, lakes, swamps), as well as to significantly improve purification of tap water.
